jNQ 2.7.0. Release Note
Visuality Systems is pleased to announce the release of jNQ 2.7.0, a major update focused on resolver modernization, stronger Kerberos authentication, expanded DFS support, and improved client robustness. This release also includes breaking changes that should be reviewed prior to upgrade.



Resolver and Connectivity (Breaking Change)
New Resolver Architecture:
The internal IP/Host resolver has been redesigned to leverage Java JNDI.
NetBIOS name resolution is now disabled by default.
A new
MountParams.bypassResolveroption allows bypassing name resolution when required.Authentication and Security
Enhanced Kerberos Support:
Kerberos now uses mutual authentication by default.
Added KDC proxy support and the ability to specify a keytab file per mount (
MountParams.keytabPath).Improved SPN handling, including support for external SPNs.
DFS and Enterprise Storage
DFS Enhancements:
Added support for Nutanix cluster DFS.
New
MountParams.dfsenableproperty enables DFS control on a per-mount basis.Client Reliability and Resource Management
Improved Mount and File Handling:
Closing a mount now automatically closes any open files associated with it.
Updated mount connection logic to consider a mount connected only after the share is connected.
Added
close()methods toMount,File, andDirectoryto simplify resource management.Logging, Tracing, and Capture
Improved Observability:
Configuration values are now printed into each log file.
Internal capture enhancements include pcapng support, richer TraceLog data (including login flows), and improved filtering and protocol coverage.
Additional Changes and Fixes
New APIs and usability improvements (share pagination, directory state inspection, stream reset, oplock accessors).
Transport enhancements, including a new TCP NIO transport with write timeout support.
Performance and scalability improvements across client infrastructure and threading.
Numerous bug fixes across authentication, resolver logic, DFS, QUIC, capture, and sample code.
jNQ 2.7.0 delivers meaningful architectural improvements and security enhancements while continuing to refine stability and developer experience. Customers are advised to review the breaking changes before upgrading.
